Before the 1950s, Tibet was a peaceful country that was based primarily off of their rich nomadic form of agriculture and was strongly developed in their Tibetan Buddhist beliefs. Over the past 1,000 years, the country developed a unique, spiritual culture with this eminent faith in Buddhism at its heart. Dalai Lamas are the spiritual leaders of Tibet, they represent the Buddhas of years past reincarnated. The Dalai Lamas have the power to bring piece to a struggling nation and are given the utmost faith and respect by those who are Buddhist. The present day Lama, the 14th, is believed to be a reincarnation of Chenrezig, the Buddha of compassion. Along with the Dalai Lama, another figure remains equally as important in the eyes of Buddhist and that figure is the Panchen Lama. The Dalai Lama is believed to represent the sun, while the Panchen Lama is the moon. The current Panchen Lama was taken by Chinese authorities at the age of 6 in 1995, and here lies the conspiracies of the harsh treatments given by the new Chinese overthrow.
Agriculture is tradition in the Tibetan culture, specifically it is a nomadic form of agriculture. The economy and culture of Tibet was strongly built off of this style of living, however the Chinese government overthrow began to force this style of living to become more modernized. Nomads forced to settle in uncomfortable urban areas and their pastures were transformed into industrial ventures. This ruined the possibilities of agriculture to thrive in later years as the sensitive environment of the Tibetan Plateau could only take so much before being completely destroyed.
Another thing being doomed of its existence is the Tibetan Language. A language that is now being replaced by Chinese, a strategy in which the Chinese have found to be a effective in diminishing the Tibetan culture and then assimilating them to a Chinese government and culture. Education is limited leaving the people of Tibet with very few options. This involuntary overthrow has left Tibet in a state of harsh living conditions and fury
